Adventure Holiday in Australia - Day 1

Upon arrival at Wave Hill, guests will be escorted to Dingo Dam cottage, given the opportunity to lay out their swags and settle into the laid back country holiday mode. A 4WD adventure drive into the mountains and around the property will allow you to familiarize yourselves with the property.

Also an introduction to the farm animals around the Homestead is essential, as it is some of these characters you will be spending time with over the next few days. By  this we mean the stock horses. Each rider will be allocated a horse according to his/her level of experience and lessons and training will be carried out whilst you become comfortable with your new found mate for the exciting days ahead.

Adventure Holiday in Australia - Day 2

After a bright and early Aussie breakfast, we’ll saddle up and set off on horseback on a rugged trip to the bottom end of the Clarence River Gorge. This is where the Australian adventure holiday begins; It is usually during this trek that you come face to face with the real Australian Bush and its wildlife.  Kangaroos, rock wallabies, red and yellow crested black cockatoos, kookaburras, goannas, wedge-tailed eagles, snakes, lizards, echidnas and dingoes are those regularly sighted.  Koalas and platypus, however, are generally harder to spot, yet there is evidence of their inhabitancy so you could be lucky!

After a picnic lunch at the river you will swap the horse for a canoe and paddle up the river to the base of the first set of falls - Willow Tree Falls.  Surrounded by the sheer rock walls, you’ll experience the peacefulness of the pristine environment. We’ll moor our river transport and hike further up river to view Rainbow Falls then retrace our steps back to the horses and head back to the Homestead for a delicious home cooked meal.

Adventure Holiday in Australia - Day 3

After awakening to the bush alarm clock and a hearty breakfast, we mount the horses again and head up to the “Top Gorge”.  Upon arrival we’ll boil the billy and then hike down to Caves Falls.  The sights experienced are sensational and not to be missed. You are free to explore, swim in the rock pools, or drop in a fishing line, as the Gorge is one of Australia’s most reputable locations for Bass fishing.  After another riverside picnic we’ll head the horses for home exploring creeks and gullies along the way. If there is any spare time before a country style farewell dinner, a social game of tennis can be organized or depending on the season, volleyball in the pool.

Adventure Holiday in Australia - Day 4

Now you are all experienced horse riders, you can go back home and share your stories of riding in country similar to the “Man from Snowy River”.  We will transport you to Grafton to meet your travel connections, and hopefully you will have enjoyed your stay at Wave Hill Station and the outback Australian adventure holiday that will live in your memories for a lifetime.
